On Earth Day, April 22, the hottest ticket in Edmonton will be Citizens As Climate Leaders at the University of Alberta with David Suzuki. You can watch the film trailer, learn all about the event at Alberta Climate Dialogue’s blog and share the Facebook event page with your friends — not to mention grab one of the remaining tickets on Eventbrite. (UPDATE: scroll to the bottom for our Storify recap of the event!) You may have noticed in the event description that, quote, “Proceeds will go to The Local Good’s [Resilience Festival] and the University of Alberta’s Green Grants program.”
Funds raised from this event on our behalf will be used to establish a new annual weekend-long festival, the Edmonton Resilience Festival, in collaboration with other local groups working on climate change issues, transition strategies, permaculture and skill-sharing. The inaugural festival will run for three days over the first weekend of February 2015. The Edmonton Resilience Festival will be a celebration of DIY resiliency skills with practical ReSkilling workshops, movie screenings, conversation cafes, art and social events, and a community connections fair. We are in the early stages of planning this festival and reaching out to potential partners, participants and workshop leaders. If you have an idea for a workshop that you would like to see or host at the festival, please get in touch by emailing YEGresilience@gmail.com. Watch this space for further details as we are able to announce them!
