[We sent your questions to all the Election 2013 candidates. We are posting their unedited responses in the order that they’re received. – Ed.]

Kristine Acielo, candidate for mayor of Edmonton.
Kristine Acielo, candidate for mayor of Edmonton.

1. In the context of our City’s growth, how will you support the development of existing communities as opposed to new neighbourhoods?

Well we do need to refurbish some of our older neigh bourhoods, by working on them, and historical teams, to refurbish the older meanings that belong to edmontonians, and at the same time, work with making new development for the growth of our city.

2. How will you support and promote independent locally-owned businesses in Edmonton?

I Love the farmers market, and hope we could introduce more Indoor farmers markets, during our cold winter months. Being a vendor in the markets about ten years ago, my mother had an Asian food company, but due to her illness, we had to withdraw from the markets, selling kimchee, wontons, and spring rolls, maybe you remember us.

3. How will you support local food and urban agriculture in Edmonton?

I would like to see more green houses, in the Edmonton area. I was hoping we could make one for our senior population to come and help during our long winter months, and using a greener project for that.

4. How will you address Indigenous Edmontonians’ history and needs?

I would really like to see more of our historical sites, and make Edmonton, a travel and tourism, based on some of our beautiful buildings then tearing any of them down, like they do in Europe.

5. How do you envision the public transit system evolution?

I’D like to build a sky train that would go around Anthony henday.

6. What will you do to better engage post-secondary research / students / faculty with the rest of the community?

Well being a student myself, I would like to have more students involved in the process, of volunteering and well starting them off younger, in the elementary schools. I started working on campaigns since I was 8 years old.

7. Councillor candidates: What is the biggest challenge your Ward faces? What solutions would you seek?

We NEED TO BUILD A LARGER ARENA, I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE REXALL AN INDOOR ROLLER RINK, AND INDOOR FARMERS MARKET, BUT WE WILL HAVE TO WORK SOMETHING OUT!

8. How can our readers learn more about your platform, contact you with questions or concerns, or get involved in your campaign?

They can email me at kristineacielorunning4mayor@yahoo.ca

Or add me to facebook, at Kristine Kristy Acielo.

  1. what kind of bad drugs has this girlbeen doing? i think being able to form a cohiesive sentance should at least be a pre-requiste for running in any election.

  2. These are by far the stupidest answers I have ever read. Might as well build a dome over the city to keep the heat in during the winter.

  3. She is the next Sarah Palin I swear, or I should say she is the Sarah Palin of the Edmonton Municipal election.
