Looking for love this Valentine’s? 

Thaw your heart out with the rest of us here at Green Drinks during our Speed Dating (for the Climate!) event on February 12th!

We at The Local Good are super excited to pull together some of Edmonton’s most passionate climate thinkers and eco-activists this month so that you and a special friend (or two!) can sit down and engage in some thrilling conversation surrounding Edmonton’s Climate Emergency, and beyond. We’re certain you’ll fall in love with what Edmontonians are doing for sustainability—and of course, there will be food and drinks you can fall in love with, too!

Basically, we wanted to give our incredible GD’ers the chance to shine and show us what they love. And in the spirit of the season, we broke out of our usual Green Drinks format, asking eight local groups to host “Speed Dating” sessions for the night’s attendees. With enthusiasm, the following groups responded YES to our desire for riveting conversation, stimulating debate, and wholesome learning between local community members:

So, whether you’ve been before, or if this is your first time, we’re sure you’ll enjoy the low-key, no-commitment atmosphere that these eco- and animal-friendly sessions will provide.

Here’s how it’s all going down:

From 7 – 11pm at Yellowhead Brewery (Downtown Edmonton), we’ll have greeters, connectors, and hosts around to guide knowledge lovers through a series of eco-conscious talk-sessions. Together, you and your friends – and some new friends too! – will get the chance to engage with many of Edmonton’s climate-forward organizations. Think of it like dipping your toes in today’s climate debate—outside of the classroom, and out from behind the keyboard. It’s a way to show love to your planet and city—and to bring someone you love along for the (carbon neutral) ride!

With all this love in the air, why not let cupid catch you at Green Drinks this Valentine’s? We want to help you find your ‘perfect match’ for your future activism, right here at home. And hopefully, you’ll come away with more than a few phone numbers about how to get involved (if you know what we mean).

Regardless of whether you want to live a bit dangerously on a first date, or speak confidently by the side of a life-long friend, we welcome you to Green Drinks for a romantic evening of conversation, food, and climate-conscious fun!

Advance tickets are available for $15.00/ person on Eventbrite, or $20.00 at the door. Oh, and be sure to RSVP on Facebook to let your friends know you’re coming.

Green Drinks is open to all ages and denominations. The facility where the event is hosted recognizes its mobility restrictions, but assures us that if a ramp is needed for access, that it can be arranged. Please just send us an email here prior to the event for the utmost convenience. Tickets are also available as “pay what you can” to promote wide-spread access. A donation option is equally available, with proceeds going to “pay what you can” ticket sales”.
