(Editor’s note: the application to be part of the Resilience Festival has now closed. Participants will be notified shortly of their involvement; watch our blog, website and social media for additional announcements. If you have further questions, please email the team at yegresilience@gmail.com.)
The inaugural Edmonton Resilience Festival will run Feb. 7 and 8, 2015, at the beautiful Boyle Street Plaza in downtown Edmonton.
The festival aims to strengthen community resilience through skill-sharing workshops and other events, inspiring participants to help create a sustainable, creative and promising future. The festival will also help to restore a sense of community that is often lost in cities experiencing rapid development and population growth. By bringing together diverse participants and creating opportunities for learning, sharing and connecting, we hope to expand our horizons, our skill sets and our community networks.
We are looking for makers, connectors, artists, musicians, activists, foodies and builders to join the festival. We hope to involve a diverse group of individuals and organizations to host workshops, volunteer or simply attend the event. The agenda will be a mix of hands-on practical workshops, movie screenings, guided conversation cafés, art and social events, and a Community Connections Fair showcasing the work of community organizations. The venue boasts a large commercial kitchen, several break-out rooms, a large gymnasium and an outdoor skating rink.
We are hoping to draw from a wide range of talented people to run imaginative, hands-on workshops. Would you like to host a workshop, be a Conversation Café facilitator, or organize a pre-festival spinoff event? Please fill out the Request For Participation form!
The deadline to submit a request for participation is Nov. 12, 2014 at 11:45 p.m.
We are currently looking for volunteers to assist with planning and helping out during the festival. If you are interested in volunteering in any capacity, please email the team at yegresilience@gmail.com.
The Community Connections Fair will showcase entrepreneurs, local businesses, organizations and groups whose products and programs contribute to the wellbeing and healthy development of our community. Here, participants can make meaningful connections with those already working towards social and environmental sustainability and learn about existing initiatives and programs. If your organization is interested in joining the Community Connections Fair, please contact Danielle at yegresilience@gmail.com.
If you are a business or sponsor looking to partner with our event, please contact Deb at yegresilience@gmail.com.
