Green Drinks: Food and Climate Change
When: Wednesday, March 18, 7 pm – 10 pm
Where: Dewey’s Pub, University of Alberta campus
Global systems of food production, distribution and consumption account for a huge chunk of global greenhouse gas emissions (21% to 37%). The way we currently produce food is also a significant contributor to deforestation, biodiversity loss and declining water tables. We need to make some fundamental changes if we’re going to make sure everyone has enough to eat without triggering runaway climate breakdown.
At this Green Drinks you’ll hear from guest speakers working on different aspects of the food and climate conundrum. We’ll be at Dewey’s, on University of Alberta campus, for the first time since the early days of Green Drinks almost ten years ago.
Guest speakers to be announced soon!

Tickets: $15 in advance or $20 at the door. We also have a pay-what-you-can option.
About this Green Drinks season
For the first time ever, Green Drinks has a season-long theme: Climate Emergency. We will explore the many different aspects of the crisis and the just as many ways we can do something about it. Events will touch on everything from politics and policy, to the role cities can play, to economic and energy transition, to dealing with climate despair. Whatever the topic or format, this season’s Green Drinks events will help you connect with other people who care deeply about climate action and want to collaborate, share ideas, and make a real difference.
