Shop local this holiday season: the #yegSanta project

Just in time to combat the ridiculousness that is Black Friday, we’d like to introduce to you to our holiday shopping project: #yegSanta!

It likely comes as no surprise that we at The Local Good are encouraging you to shop local this holiday season! This means: shopping at local, independent Edmonton retailers instead of big box stores and, wherever possible, buying handmade products by artists, designers, makers, and creators here in Edmonton. To make it easy for you to shop local, we suggest these 3 resources:

1. Live Local Alberta has 10 Ways to Keep It Local This Holiday Season

2. Made Urban’s fantastic guide to Craft & Art Fairs in Edmonton

3. #yegSanta: Our new blog series and Twitter frenzy

To help make your local shopping easy and fun, dear readers, we’re going to start tweeting about local holiday shopping suggestions with the hashtag #yegSanta (follow us on Twitter at @localgoodyeg for these updates). Likewise, we want all of our Twitter friends (that means YOU!) to use the hashtag #yegSanta to let others know about great products, sales, and events happening at local retailers across Edmonton. If you’re looking for a particular product, using the #yegSanta hashtag will also be a great way to find out from other Twitter friends which local retailers carry the product.

Sound good?

We’re also launching a #yegSanta blog series that will feature gift guides, crafter/artisan profiles, and other insights on shopping local this holiday season. Check our Blog for the latest updates.

Have a suggestion for a #yegSanta blog post or want to write a guest #yegSanta blog post? We’d love it! Send us your blog ideas here and please indicate if you would like to be a guest blogger for the post.

Happy Holidays!
